Zimos was an annoying douchebag whose auto-tune singing voice was not funny in the slightest but like hearing nails on chalkboard. Weak new characters, although Oleg was okay because of his huge structure, handyness in battles and warm personality, all the other characters weren't that great imo. If they were going to kill off Gat, they shouldn't have done it so early in the game and made his death on-screen and more badass. Not to mention that characters in Saints Row 2 were killed on-screen. Killing Johnny Gat off-screen right in the second mission, despite him being featured in promotional artwork and that misleading CGI trailer. No day and night cycle which should never be left out of an open-world sandbox.
There's no denying that the game is great fun, but there were some steps backwards from Saints Row 2. But other than that? A disappointment and an outing that is inferior to its predecessor.Īnd on top of that Gat problem they replaced him with a useless giant And yes, I enjoy crushing cars in a tank, or venturing to the island that gets infested with zombies near the endgame. a villain we didn't hear as much about and can only take the in-game characters' word as being "a real nasty guy". And let's not forget how promotional material and press releases bigged up the 'Belgian Waffle' as this dangerous, big bad guy, only to have him killed off in the very first act, leaving some other villain to take his place. The treatment of the characters is absurd, particularly Shaundi's jump (not character development, a jump) from 'chilled stoner' to 'angry bitch' and that of Johnny Gat - the man who has survived things including (and not only) getting sliced deep in the abdomen with a Katana) ends up getting killed OFF SCREEN. Most of SR:TT's missions are Side Activities with a cutscene before you start them, and a cutscene after you finish them all. As a result, nearly all the game is all flash, but no substance. Saints Row The Third, however, decided to take a long, long walk down Silliness Lane. In another, you were trying to rescue (and ultimately end up putting down) a good friend. On one mission, you were gunning down prison boats in a WWII fighter plane. Saints Row 2 managed to strike a good balance between silly and serious. Might be back to bitch about it in the thread in a week lol To be honest, though, I wasn't expecting much as, while I liked the game, SR2 never really hit off with me.
I have the PC version, but would modding it interfere with co-op? Got a few buddies I'll be playing this with.Īnyway, I see what you mean, man, I'm barely starting on it, so I'm just basing this off of what is mentioned on the video (the first 3-4 hours).
Defiantly a mediocre game at most, feels more like a downgraded version. Here is a list of things that are in Saints Row 2 but not in Saints Row 3:Īdvanced Clothing Customization (Shirt, Bottom Layer, Top Layer, Jacket)
Get the PC version with SandBox+ and Gentlemen of Steelport mod if you have the PC version, the Saints Row community are fantastic in that they improved this broken, mediocre mess.
